One of the main reasons why the African manufacturing sector is ailing is because there exists a huge gap between the demand and the supply of energy. The entire Africa has a population of less than 1.4 billion.

It is estimated that 600-million people are without access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa alone. In all, over half of the population of this continent lives without electricity. “Significant and sustained investment is, therefore, required across Africa’s entire energy generation and supply value chain.”
